O'Connor appeal tonight
August 27, 2008
Donncha O'Connor will appear before the Central Hearings Committee tonight (Wednesday) to appeal the four-week suspension he received after Cork's draw with Kerry last Sunday at Croke Park.
The Rebels attacker received a straight red card from referee Joe McQuillan in the second-half of Sunday's All-Ireland semi-final for lightly-slapping Kerry's Aidan O'Mahony's across the face, which saw the centre-back dramatically fall to the floor holding his face.
On Monday the Central Competitions Control Committee handed down a month's ban to O'Connor, which includes the Rebel attacker to miss the next game, that being the replay this Sunday against the All-Ireland Champions.
O'Connor will appear before the CHC tonight at Croke Park to appeal the ban on the grounds that that there was no force or intent on his part.
