August 26, 2008
Senior Championship: We encourage our supporters to come along and cheer the Scotstown team on, as they are up against Castleblaney in the next round of the Championship on Sunday 31st Aug in Clontibret at 6.30pm. Senior League: Our seniors snatched victory deep into injury time to claim two league points on Wednesday week last. Tyholland appeared to have the game wrapped up and where in total control, until Daniel McNally hit the net on 64mins to secure Scotstown a win. From the opening quarter Tyholland were always in command and went 7pts to 2 up. Scotstown made a strong finish to the first half and trailed by 8pts to 6 heading into the break. It wasn't until the end of the 3rd quarter that Scotstown opened their account in the second half; by this stage they were behind 10pts to 7. Then by the 53rd minute a point separated the sides. However, Tyhollands Raymond Ronaghan scored a goal to put them 4 ahead with five minutes remaining. Scotstown didn't give up and contributed 1-2 at the end of the match to win on a score line: Scotstown 1-12 to Tyholland 1-11. Scorers: James Turley (0-5); Daniel McNally (1-1); Nicholas Corrigan (0-3); Brian Mc Ginnity (0-2). U21s: Scotstown and Blaney must do it all over again as theU21 final ended all square on Saturday last. The conditions didn't help as the game was tightly contested. It was a low scoring game with two penalties awarded in the first half, Scotstown missed their penalty effort half way through the first half, however, Blaney's effort was put away, which gave them a slender lead as they approached half time. (1-3 to 5). The second was just equally as tight. With five minutes remaining Scotstown levelled matters at 1-4 to 7. Blaney pulled away again and took a two-point advantage as time was up. But Scotstown stormed back with two injury time points to end the match all-square at 1-6 to 9. Ciste Draw: This Saturday 30th Aug 08 in the Social club.
