Laois begin hunt for new boss

August 26, 2008
Laois County Board have began their search for a new senior football manager after a special meeting with clubs within the O'Moore County last night (Monday) in Portlaoise. The meeting reviewed all of the inter-county sides in Laois and with it all clubs nominated their choices as to who they wanted to succeed Liam Kearns, who stood down as senior manager after the exiting the All-Ireland SFC to Down this summer. Numerous names have been linked with the Midlands job, including former boss Mick O'Dwyer and fellow Munster men Jack O'Connor (Kerry) and Billy Morgan (Cork). Names such as Luke Dempsey, Pat Roe, Paul Bealin, Colm Coyle and Sean Dempsey have also come into the fame, but Laois had promised earlier on in the month that a new manager would be in place by late September.
