Counihan admits Kerry were the better side

August 25, 2008
After watching his side stage a remarkable comeback to snatch a draw off Kerry at Croke Park on Sunday, Cork boss Conor Counihan admitted that the Kingdom had played to better football on the day. The Rebels hit two goals in injury-time coming from James Masters and a John Hayes penalty to force a replay against their great rivals. Counihan said: "We needed two goals and to be honest I didn't think we would get them at that stage. We didn't play well. Kerry were much better. "We could have died. We had other occasions during the year when we could have died. We stuck with it. That must count for something, the character." The replay may well now take place as part of a triple bill at Croke Park this Sunday, with Tyrone and Meath meeting in the All-Ireland MFC and Tyrone and Wexford in the SFC semi-final.
