No shortage of contenders

August 22, 2008
With the deadline for nominations looming, there appears to be a glut of potential candidates for the Laois senior football manager's job. Pat Roe has publicly declared an interest in succeeding Liam Kearns, while Sean Dempsey also intends to put his name forward. A joint management team of Mick Lillis and Mark Kavanagh has also been mooted. Tommy Conroy, who was a selector alongside Kearns, is another possible candidate. Glenn Ryan's name was also linked with the post during the week, so it's going to be interesting to see what names the clubs put before the County Board on Monday.
