O'Connor extends Geelong stay

Kerry’s Mark O’Connor has signed a new two-year deal with Aussie Rules outfit Geelong.

The Dingle clubman won All-Ireland MFC titles in 2014 and ’15 before joining the Cats a year later. Along with Laois’ Zach Touhy, he helped Geelong to claim the AFL Premiership in 2022. The new deal, which will keep him at the club until at least 2026, extinguishes hopes of O’Connor returning home to play for Kerry any time soon.

Geelong also has a strong Irish AFLW contingent, including Aisling Moloney, Anna Rose Kennedy, Rachel Kearns and latest recruit Kate Kenny from Offaly.
