Longford’s Michael Quinn admits that their hectic start to the season has left them glad of the break this weekend.

The Midlanders have played six competitive games since the start of the New Year, three in the O’Byrne Cup and three in the FL3 campaign.

They now have a break this weekend before they get ready to face Down in Newry on Saturday week and Quinn believes that the break will do them good this weekend.

“Six games since January 3rd – O’Byrne Cup and three league games. We need to get the bodies right and build again. It’s an opportunity that the lads coming in fresh put their hands up, train hard this week and push on for the next block of games,” said Quinn.

“We have been in positions before in the national league where you are looking for other results the whole time. It’s amazing too when you do get out in front. There’s seven games, five out of six is great but that one point dropped, you would hope it doesn’t come back to bite you. Having said that you’d have taken this position three weeks ago before the start of the league.”
