Tyrone defender Michael McKernan sustained broken ribs and a punctured lung playing in the Sigerson Cup on Sunday.

The Coalisland clubman was brought to St Vincent’s Hospital after being injured in an accidental collision during Ulster University’s defeat to UCD in the premier third-level colleges competition.

As a result, he will miss most - if not all - of the Red Hands’ national football league Division One campaign.
