Joint-captain Conor Laverty could hardly contain his delight after Kilcoo finally got their hands on the Seamus McFerran Cup.

"Words can't describe how we feel," the former Down star said in his acceptance speech after the Magpies edged out Naomh Conaill in yesterday's Ulster club SFC final.

"This started many, many years ago and we have been on the road in Ulster for 10 years. We have had many heartbreaks and the players are at the forefront, but it's the people of Kilcoo who did the hard work to get us here."

Laverty also paid tribute to Mickey Moran for masterminding the breakthrough.

"Mickey Moran, the man, the myth, the legend... People keep asking: 'What is it about Mickey Moran?' I can't put my finger on it and I have tried very hard.

"You are the nicest, best man we have ever met and to the day we die, all of us, we will never forget what you have done for us."
