Cavan GAA pays tribute to tragic athlete

Cavan GAA has extended its sympathy to the family of international runner Craig Lynch who died following a road crash near Kells, Co. Meath yesterday morning.

The 29-year-old sprinter from Shercock represented Ireland in the 400m event at the 2016 European Championships. He was also part of the Irealnd team that took part in the 2015 World Relay Championships and won the national indoor 60m title in 2016.

"We were shocked and saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Craig, a very talented athlete and former underage footballer with Shercock GAA," Cavan GAA said in a statement.

"We extend our deepest sympathies to Craigs parents, brothers, sisters, daughter, fiancée, extended family, Shercock AC and his many friends at this time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."
