Mayo - Dublin fans enter Tuesday morning ticket hell

Fans at SuperValu queue up for tickets for Saturday's All-Ireland SFC semi-final between Dublin and Mayo

Many Mayo and Dublin followers have endured a morning from hell trying to secure tickets for Saturday’s All-Ireland SFC semi-final.

A full house of 83,200 is expected at Croke Park and, with demand outstripping supply, ticket fever erupted with huge queues forming (both physical and virtual) when tickets went on sale this morning.

The scramble started outside Centra and Super Valu stores long before the golden tickets became available at 10am and continued into the afternoon as supporters sought to get passes for what could be the game of the year. People queued for hours on end at the aforementioned supermarkets and also in front of their screens at home as they logged into tickets.ie and were confronted with a virtual queue of more than 10,000 prospective buyers.

Frustration and chaos has ensued, with servers timing out due to the heavy traffic and patience wearing thin as many reportedly queued fruitlessly for in excess of five hours before the system crashed, sparking fears that tickets had sold out. It has since been confirmed that more tickets will go on sale when the problem is resolved.
