Lee Wallace was very much in the thoughts of the Westmeath players after the final whistle was blown in this evening’s Allianz FL Division 3 final win over Laois.
St Mary’s Rochfortbridge clubman Lee was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and a GoFundMe page has been set up to help him receive a new type of treatment.
Victorious captain Kieran Martin mentioned Lee and his ongoing battle in his acceptance speech and the Lake County players, as well as manager Jack Cooney, donned specially designed t-shirts to help raise awareness of his plight.
Meanwhile, the Laois footballers kindly made a donation of €250 towards Lee's fund.
TweetA massive thanks to the CLG Laois footballers on kindly donating €250 to support Lee Wallace in his battle with cancer. A lovely gesture that is greatly appreciated!!!!#iarmhiabu #westmeathgaa
