While the rest of the country have been wrapping up well this week, the Tipperary hurlers have been to Alicante where they held a training camp over the last few days.

Tipperary were due to play Cork in the last round of the NHL group phase at Pairc Ui Rinn last Sunday, but the bad weather caused the game to be postponed and it is rescheduled for this Sunday.

This did not upset their plans as they jetted out from Shannon last Monday and return later today (Friday).

Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy told the Midland Tribune that spending the week together would be hugely beneficial for the squad.

“This is an important week for us,” said Sheedy. “It enables us to get together as a squad, work hard and prepare for that change in the season that comes when you transition from the closing stages of the league into the championship.

“We’ll make the most of it and be back on Friday night ready for what lies in store. The re-fixture is at the weekend and being able to fly back into Shannon is a bonus in that regard as it’s closer to home for us and means less travel.”
