The Offaly county board will not make their 2019 championship structures known until next February at the earliest.

Clubs in the county usually know what the format for the various championships will be in November, but it has been revealed that failure to have a discussion on the proposed structures in October mean that they could not vote on the matter at this month’s meeting.

The Midland Tribune reports that Offaly chairman Tommy Byrne has accepted responsibility for the discussion not taking place.

Delegates voiced their disapproval at clubs not knowing what the championship structures will be until next February, but there is not a lot that they can do about it.

Fixtures and championship structures are a common debate amongst county boards around the country with many indicating that they will have to change format in 2019 to suit the inter-county schedule.
