Clare defender Gordon Kelly's league campaign could be over after being hit with a 12-week suspension.

The Miltown-Malbay clubman is understood to have been reported for an alleged altercation with an umpire during the Banner men's drawn Division 2 clash with Tipperary in Ennis last Sunday.

The heated affair at Cusack Park also saw Clare boss Colm Collins handed a one-month suspension for alleged verbal abuse of an official following Jamie Malone's dismissal on a straight red card.

Malone's accidental collision with Shane Stapleton left the Tipp selector hospitalised on Saturday night.

The Clare Champion reports that both Kelly and Malone will contest their suspensions, while manager Collins confirmed to RTE Sport that he will also be appealing his ban.
