UUJ's Ryan McAnespie.

Ulster University are through to the last four after beating UL by 4-6 to 0-11 in the first quarter-final this afternoon.

Captain Ronan McNamee fired the winners' fourth goal to the bottom corner of the net four minutes into the second half, propelling Paul Rouse's side into an unassailable twelve-point lead (4-4 to 0-4) and a semi-final meeting with DCU or UCD.

With the snow falling in Jordanstown, the hosts led by 3-4 to 0-2 at the short whistle, Monaghan's Ryan McAnespie and Tyrone brothers Lee Brennan and Rory Brennan netting.

The dismissal of Pearse Lillis for a straight red card offence in the second minute was a blow that UL could not recover from, although they reeled off the last five points of the game despite being reduced to 13 men when another Clareman, Keelan Sexton, picked up a second yellow card.
