Sligo manager Cathal Corey admits that he is disappointed that he has not had the chance to work with Mark Breheny.

The Sligo legend called time on his lengthy inter-county career recently, despite speculation that he was going to stick around for one more year.

Corey respects Breheny's decision and stressed that he owes the county nothing, but the Sligo manager feels that the experienced forward still had something to offer the younger players in the squad.

"It's unfortunate that Mark retired," Corey told the Sligo Champion. "I felt Mark had a role to play with Sligo, I felt that Mark had a lot to offer the younger players, but Mark owes Sligo nothing, he's a legend and always will be at Sligo football.

"I didn't get to work with him, I'm a wee bit disappointed there. He's a lovely fella and I know he did a bit of training, he was in great shape but he just felt it was time to let the young boys take over."
