Players impress Kelly

Westmeath manager Colin Kelly

Westmeath manager Colin Kelly admits that he has been impressed by the players' attitude as they continue their preparations for the opening round of the NFL.

The Lake County head north to take on a Derry side that will be minus the services of their Slaughtneil contingent and they travel there in a confident mood.

Westmeath have qualified for the O'Byrne Cup final where they will play Meath in the rescheduled decider next month, but all the focus is on the league and a clash with Derry.

"I'm very impressed with the way players have bought into the philosophy we are trying to implement. Things are going really well and I'm really impressed with their attitude," Kelly told the Westmeath Independent.

"Obviously, it's early in the season, but it's very clear that the lads are serious about how they want to approach things and as a manager, that's something you want to see especially so early in the year."
