Cork's senior footballers have been handed a boost with the news that veteran forward Donncha O'Connor has committed to a 13th season with the Rebel County.

The42.ie reports that the Ballydesmond clubman has made himself available to new manager Ronan McCarthy and will link up with his team mates in the coming weeks.

O'Connor turns 37 in April and is one of five players still involved from the Leesiders' 2010 All-Ireland SFC victory, with Paul Kerrigan and Aidan Walsh both having started the decider against Down. Colm O'Neill came on as a substitute that day while defender Jamie O'Sullivan was also a part of Conor Counihan's squad.

O'Connor, who made his inter-county debut in 2006, scored 0-6 in his last appearance for the Rebels in their extra time qualifier defeat to Mayo back in July.
