Speculation is rife that Paul Sharry won't be making his services available to Westmeath in 2018.

Sharry was outstanding in St. Loman's run to the Leinster club SFC final, but after such a long season with club and county, it's believed he wants to take a break from the inter-county scene. The playmaker picked up a second yellow card in the closing stages of yesterday's provincial decider and was a huge loss to Loman's as they suffered an extraordinary late collapse at the hands of a strong-finishing Moorefield team.

The former Shamrock Rovers soccer player made his senior debut for Westmeath back in 2009 and has since established himself as one of the top players in Leinster.

The Lake County will continue their preparations for the new season with a SF challenge against Connacht champions Roscommon in Sharry's home pitch of Lakepoint Park tomorrow night.
