'I have to do my job better and I'm first to say that'

Armagh manager Kieran McGeeney has cited recent criticism from fans and media as "part and parcel" of his job.

The Orchard County take on Laois this afternoon in the opening round of the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers and McGeeney, who has come in for some heavy fire this season following league relegation and a first round championship defeat to Cavan, will no doubt love to see his team get back to winning ways in Portlaoise.

"I have a funny feeling no matter what I do that particular day, it won't make a bit of difference to what some people say," McGeeney said in today's Irish Daily Star.

"A lot of the times it is tough and you don't like a lot of things that are said in the media, but that's part and parcel of it. You have to look at the big picture and that's what I'm trying to do.

"I have to do my job better and I'm first to say that. But we have good players. I think we are generally going in the right direction, though we are not firing on all cylinders in the way we'd like."

Throw-in at O'Moore Park is at 3.30pm.
