No Armagh player will face disciplinary action over the injuries sustained by Dublin's Davey Byrne in a recent challenge game.

The Ballymun Kickhams clubman was hospitalised after suffering serious facial injuries, including a broken eye socket and nose, in a behind closed doors game against the Orchard County.

The challenge was sanctioned by Croke Park but the Irish Daily Star reports that the GAA won't be launching an investigation into the game.

It is understood that the incident in which Byrne was injured took place prior to the throw-in of last Thursday's match.

As a result, he will miss Sunday's provincial final showdown against Westmeath.
