Brolly and Cahill had very different views on doctor push…

Joe Brolly and Des Cahill had a heated argument over the 'doctor push' incident on live radio yesterday.

The row occurred during RTE Radio's 'Saturday Sport' programme, which Cahill co-presents with Joanne Cantwell. Brolly's fellow pundit Kevin McStay was also in studio when the debate about Armagh midfielder Aaron Findon's push on Donegal team doctor Kevin Moran got a little out of hand.

Former Derry star Brolly accused Cahill of 'overblowing' the incident after 'The Sunday Game' presenter had said: "Doctors do not get thrown to the ground."

Brolly then made reference to a recent unspecified boxing match RTE had covered, saying: "I remember one of the most brutal boxing fights I had ever seen in my life and you guys were lionising it and saying it was magnificent… that it was an example of tremendous courage.

"Both boxers knocked each other out."

But Cahill said the incident in the Donegal v Armagh match had nothing to do with boxing.

"That was boxing. That was boxing. This is a team sport when a doctor came on…"

Brolly then replied: "I just think you are making too much of it Des. You know this is not… this is not a kiddie story."

Cahill interjected: "I'm not allowing you trivialising it… that's all I'm saying."

After McStay agreed with Cahill that there is no place in the GAA for "medical staff being thrown to the floor," Brolly said: "If you put your head in the lion's mouth, you shouldn't sort of waggle it about you know.

"I think you're just overblowing the whole thing … it's not the end of the world."
