Louth appoint Armagh All-Ireland winner as new hurling boss

Paul McCormack with the Nicky Rackard Cup in 2010

Former Armagh dual star Paul McCormack has taken over Louth’s senior hurlers on a two-year term.

The Keady native was ratified to the post last night and succeeds Philip O’Brien, who stepped down in July after opting not to put his name forward for a third year in charge.

McCormack was part of Joe Kernan’s 2002 All-Ireland SFC winning squad and has won two Nicky Rackard Cup medals with the Orchard County along with three All Stars in the same competition.

Louth contested the Division 3A league final last March, losing out to Warwickshire by three points, before defeating Leitrim in June to ensure their Nicky Rackard Cup status for 2019.
