Joe Kernan believes a change in tactics is paying off for Armagh.

The Orchard County have been promoted from Division 3 of the Allianz Football League with a round to spare and the 2002 All-Ireland winning manager feels they have benefited from playing a more direct style of football.

"They're playing much more direct which is great. They're kicking better, moving it quickly and they've got a strong inside-forward line," Kernan told the Irish Sun.

"Andrew Murnin is going to test any full-back in the country. You have to try to play a simple game, move it long and fast. But you need men inside who can win their own ball and Armagh have that.

"I don't care who you're playing against, if you get the ball in fast and early they're not going to be able to get men back in time. Armagh are thinking that way now and I'm delighted to see it."
