Ryan: stop patronising us

Antrim hurling manager Kevin Ryan

Kevin Ryan says he is sick and tired of people patronising his Antrim team.

Over the past two weekends, the Saffrons have won praise for putting Wexford and Limerick to the pin of their collars in Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League. But Ryan insists he would rather have points on the board.

"We're not happy with people patronising us with moral victories and all that sh*te, but we are happy within ourselves. There is a great unity among the squad," the Antrim manager said after the 1-12 to 0-23 to Limerick at Ballycastle.

"We're disappointed, obviously. We see every game as a winnable game. Limerick, to me, are the best team in the division. We just ran out of hurling near the end.

"It was disappointing there were seven or eight points in it at the end. In the last five minutes they were starting to pull away."

The Waterford man added: "It's very hard to give the same effort we put in last week. We don't have the numbers to change five or six players in our squad, but we will in time. Having said that, it's all about learning."
