Aother big day for Rossa

January 21, 2015

Mal Carabine manager of the Hunting Lodge presents Rossa Captain Cricky McGuinness and team mates with a new kit for this Sundays All Ireland Intermediate Hurling Semi Final.

This Sunday Rossa take on the Munster Intermediate Hurling champions Cappoquinn from Waterford at 2pm in Cusack Pk Mullingar.  Its comes near 25 years to the day when the club had their greatest day on the hurling field defeating the Munster Senior hurling champions Patrickswell from Limerick in the all Ireland Senior Semi Final to reach the holy grail on St Patricks day All Ireland Club Senior Hurling Final.

Against all the odds they managed to achieve this in their own back yard reach the senior final in Croke Park for the first and only time. This generation of players want to create their own history as some of them are fed up listening to their dads stories.

The connections from this year's team to that St Patricks Day team in 89, Aidan Hamill is still managing the seniors along with Seamus Shannon whose brother Sean played that day and only for injury his nephew Seaghan would be playing.  Donal Armstrong's, who played centre forward that day in 89, son Michael will play centre forward this week and Colly Murphy's, who played corner forward, son Deaglan will play midfield this week.  Hopefully these boys will stop having to listen to their Dads stories and will have their own to tell after Sunday.
