Anto Finnegan says yesterday's High Court ruling against the new Casement Park redevelopment is a blow for Antrim GAA.

Mr Justice Horner described the Environment Minister's decision to grant planning permission for the £77m stadium redevelopment as "irretrievably flawed" and former Saffrons captain Finnegan was disappointed by the setback:

"I'm speaking purely from a GAA perspective here and as someone who has played in Casement Park many times," he told The Irish News. "I just find it very sad that we are sitting with a derelict stadium and no county ground for the foreseeable future.

"The future dreams of young players wanting to play for the county are being put on hold while we don't have a stadium. That has a knock-on effect around development squads and the ambition of young players in the county.

"You want young kids aspiring to pull on the Antrim jersey in a state-of-the-art stadium but unfortunately the ruling has knocked that back significantly."
