Preview: All-Ireland SFC qualifier: Limerick v Antrim

July 05, 2014

Limerick's John Galvin and Antrim's Kevin Niblock
Despite having suffered a hefty 13-point defeat at the hands of Donegal in the Ulster SFC semi-final, Antrim travel to the Gaelic Grounds or Saturday's All-Ireland SFC qualifier fixture in a confident frame of mind.

Liam Bradley's charges matched their more illustrious opponents for the first half of their penultimate stage clash but were found wanting when Donegal upped the tempo after the resumption.

The Saffrons' assistant manager Paddy Bradley said this week: "We'll be hoping to do things that worked well against Donegal, but there was a hell of a lot that didn't work, so we have to improve on that."

Following their 1-11 to 2-14 loss to Tipperary in Munster, John Brudair's Limerick got their championship campaign back on track with a 1-16 to 1-13 victory over London in the opening round of the qualifiers.

Ian Ryan was, as per usual, their main scorer-in-chief and finished the contest with eight points to his name.

Afterwards, Brudair expressed the opinion that the win would work wonders for the morale within his young squad but they face a trickier assignment this time around.

Verdict - Antrim.
