Antrim came from seven points down to see off Wexford by 2-22 to 2-20 in this afternoon’s Leinster senior hurling championship second round clash at Corrigan Park.
Wexford had trailed by 0-8 to 0-7 before Lee Chin smashed in a penalty for them in the 26th minute and they’d goal again through their superb talisman some 10 minutes later to take in a 2-9 to 0-12 half-time lead.
The home side hung in there with points from Nigel Elliott, James McNaughton and Conal Cunning following the change of ends and they’d go on to time their finish to perfection.
A Niall McKenna goal squared the sides (2-17 to 1-20) on the hour mark and, while the Slaneysiders were able to get back up by two points, Sean Elliott’s goal surged the Saffrons in front.
Chin would get the Model men level come the 70th minute, but points from Gerard Walsh and Cunning led Darren Gleeson’s side to a famous victory in west Belfast.
