Wicklow pushed by students

January 21, 2008
Wicklow 1-16 Carlow IT 2-09 Wicklow advanced to the semi final of the Kehoe Cup following a four-point win over Carlow IT in an entertaining clash played at Bray on Sunday afternoon. This match was due to be played last weekend, but torrential rain forced the match to be cancelled and this meant that these sides were in action for the first time yesterday. The Garden County started the better and never actually trailed in the match, but Carlow stayed in touch throughout as Westmeath forward Niall Kilcoyne grabbed two goals at crucial times to keep the students in the match. However, it was the performance Wicklow midfielder Jonathan O'Neill that was the highlight of the match as he ran the show from the centre of the park, chipping in with seven points, three of which, came from play as the home side began their campaign with a win.
