Castlecomer send Kieran's packing

Castlecomer CS caused a huge upset in the Leinster Colleges SHC 'A' semi-final at Nowlan Park on Wednesday, March 7 when they recorded a first ever championship victory over mighty St. Kieran's.

The underdogs fought back from an early eight-point deficit to set up a date with Kilkenny CBS in the provincial final. 'Comer looked to be in trouble when two goals from James Nolan helped St. Kieran's to a 2-3 to 0-1 lead after 16 minutes. However, they reduced the deficit to five points at half-time, 1-4 to 2-6, thanks to a Canice Maher goal.
'Comer outscored their much vaunted opponents by 1-10 to 0-6 after the restart to pull off a famous victory. A 35th minute goal from Brian Dillon cut the arrears to two points, but the underdogs had to wait until the 48th minute to draw level.
Colin McGrath put them ahead before late points from Eddie O'Dwyer and Brian Dillon sealed the win.
