Wicklow's leading dual star, Leighton Glynn, has announced his retirement from inter-county football.
The 32-year-old will instead resume his inter-county hurling career and will line out for Casey O'Brien's men in 2015 after they secured promotion to Division 2A of the Allianz League earlier this year. He captained the Wicklow hurlers in 2006.
Glynn played inter-county football for 12 years, winning a Tommy Murphy Cup medal in 2007 and an Allianz League Division 4 medal in 2012. The Rathnew / Glenealy clubman was a key member of the Wicklow team that enjoyed an extended championship run under Mick O'Dwyer in 2009 and has also starred for Ireland in the International Rules series.
However, the attacker's career has been curtailed in the past two seasons by a serious ankle injury he sustained against Meath in the 2012 Leinster SFC.
