Paul was left full forward on the Cavan team which drew with Meath in the 1952 All Ireland decider. He did not start the replay but came on as a substitute, scoring a point and playing a key role as the men from Breifne triumphed 0-9 to 0-5.
A member of Maghera MacFinns, outside Virginia, Paul served his club as player, manager and official. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
