Newcomer Alan Cadogan insists Cork weren't complacent against Waterford on Sunday.

The Leesiders made a sluggish start to their Munster SHC opener in Thurles, falling nine points behind before finally coming to life to earn a replay.

Debutant Cadogan picked up the Man of the Match award. When asked was complacency a factor in the Cork camp, he replied in The Irish Daily Mirror:

"Absolutely not. There was a lot of talk around with Waterford, that things weren't going well, they had a lot of injuries, but look, Waterford are a great team.

"I heard during the week that Cork haven't beat Waterford since 2006 in Munster championship hurling.

"We knew coming into this that this was a serious test for us and it showed what kind of threat Waterford posed.

"Waterford might feel they were lucky, we might feel we were lucky, but thankfully we got a draw.

"We didn't play to our full potential and we've a lot of things to work on in the two weeks, so hopefully we can get over the line."
