Bealin considers himself a modern manager

New Westmeath manager Paul Bealin
New Westmeath football boss Paul Bealin insists he is up-to-speed with the modern game, despite not having managed at inter-county level since 2008.
Since leaving the Carlow post five years ago, the former Dublin All-Ireland winning midfielder has stayed in management with Graiguecullen, who he led to a first Laois SFC final appearance in 28 years in 2011, and is currently in charge of top Dublin outfit Parnells.
"I've remained very involved with the modern game and really enjoy working with and managing teams. Seeing the response of players is great; obviously if they're committed, it's very easy," Bealin is quoted in the Westmeath Topic.
"Pat Flanagan did great work during his time (with Westmeath) and that has to be acknowledged. But what I've learned is that there is a desire in Westmeath for bigger and better things in championship football. There have been a couple of good U21 teams and this year's minor side, under Tommy Carr, reached the Leinster final.
"The game is evolving all the time and I've remained very involved. I'm looking forward to working with the players in Westmeath and see real potential there."
