The Derry hurling fraternity is mourning the death of former senior hurling manager James O'Kane.
The Banagher clubman served a season as manager in 2010, having been replaced by incumbent Ger Rogan at the start of 2011. Prior to taking charge of the Oak Leaf County, he guided St. Patrick's College, Maghera - where he was a member of the teaching staff - to an All-Ireland Colleges SH 'B' title.
A statement on the Derry GAA website read: "Coiste Contae Dhoire are saddened to learn of the death of our former senior hurling manager James O'Kane.
"On behalf of all of Gaels within Derry GAA, we extend our deepest sympathies to James' family and wish them strength at this time. We would also like to express our condolences to St Mary's GAA, Banagher and all friends and colleagues of James.
"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."
