Caolan Mooney has made a smooth transition from gaelic football to Aussie Rules and his hard work 'Down Under' has been rewarded with promotion to Collingwood's senior list.

The second-year rookie from Down has been elevated in place of Western Australian draftee Jackson Ramsay who was moved onto the long-term injury list after sustaining a broken wrist in the first round of the VFL.

Mooney, who played four games in his debut season last year, departed Ireland at the end of 2011

Collingwood's Director of Football Geoff Walsh said his elevation to the senior list represented due reward for the 20 year old's rise up the ranks.

"Certainly, his last month has been pretty solid. He was someone who played four matches last year and simply remained on the rookie list in the interests of list management."

Mooney made his senior AFL debut against Fremantle in round 14, the opponent Collingwood is set to face at Patersons Stadium on Saturday night.
