Aidan O'Rourke put one over his native county in tonight's NFL Division 2 encounter at the Athletic Grounds.

O'Rourke's Louth charges produced a late run to claimed the spoils against the Orchard County.

The game was delicately poised entering the closing stages but the Wee County finished the strongest with three unanswered points.

Not even a missed penalty and the dismissal of Gerard Hoey, for a second bookable offence, could prevent them from gaining their second win of the campaign and boosting their survival prospects.

Following a closely contested opening 35 minutes, the sides finished level on 1-5 apiece.

A goal by Andy McDonnell in the 22nd minute gave the visitors a 1-4 to 0-3 lead but the Orchard replied with a goal of their own through Tony Kernan three minutes later.

3,195 spectators witnessed witnessed Stefan Forker give Paul Grimley's side the lead early in the second half but they were reduced to 14 men when James Donnelly was shown a second yellow card.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Armagh gave as good as they got for the majority of the second half but ran out of steam at the end.
