It took extra time and a point in the last minute to separate the two Cork Colleges in this afternoon's Fitzgibbon Cup decider.

Little separated the sides early on and only a late flurry of points from Padraig Gould and Michael O'Sullivan saw CIT level at the break, 0-5 each.

In wet conditions, the sides swapped scores on the restart but three points on the spin, with Aidan Walsh at the heart of their best moves, pushed CIT 0-11 to 0-8 clear entering the final stages.

There was still plenty of drama to unfold as UCC bagged two quick goals through Brian Hartnett and Dean Brosnan to turn a three point deficit into a three point lead. But just as the home side appeared to have a hand on the cup, CIT's Jamie Coughlan hit a late equalising goal to send the game to extra time.

Points from Pauric Mahoney and Shane Bourke had UCC in control as they led by four points at the change of ends in extra time, but CIT levelled the game after Colm Casey grabbed their second goal.

The sides swapped scores but in the final play, UCC grabbed the all important winning point through Seamus Corry.
