London SFC: Fulham Irish make the breakthrough
October 17, 2011
Fulham Irish claimed their first London SFC title after finishing strongly to beat Parnell's in Ruislip yesterday.
Fulham Irish 1-8
Parnell's 0-7
Having led by 1-3 to 0-4 at half-time, Fulham endured a 26-minute second half scoring drought before landing the last four points to ensure an historic success. Parnell's were marginally the better team in the first half, but Harry Murphy's 28th minute penalty meant they trailed at the break.
When the accurate free-taking of David O'Sullivan brought Parnell's level in the closing stages, it looked as though a replay would be needed, but after the outstanding Lorcan Mulvey put Fulham back in front, Murphy, Fergal McVey and John Ryan tagged on late points to seal their victory.
