John Purcell has become the latest player to withdraw from the Laois hurling squad.

Fellow attacker Tommy Fitzgerald also opted off the panel recently. On the plus side, Ger Reddin has committed himself to the cause for the coming year after securing employment locally. Reddin, who was expected to emigrate, started at full forward in the NHL Division 2 defeat to Down last weekend and is likely to be given another chance against Clare on Saturday.

With last Sunday's loss having put paid to Laois' promotion hopes, manager Brendan Fennelly is expected to field an experimental team against the Banner County, who are on course to face Limerick in the Division 2 final. Tweet
