Corofin's Ronan Steede
Former Galway minor captain Ronan Steede will jet off to Australia on Monday to start his AFL contract with south Melbourne club Grove Dale.

Steede, who won a Connacht club SFC title with Corofin in 2009, will defer his course in Sligo IT for the year to start a nine-month contract with the second division outfit and he intends to give it his all while he's Down Under.

"It is a once in a lifetime opportunity and having a contract until next September means that I can give it my all and see how it works out," said Steede.

"I am going with an open mind and a very positive. I will give it my all and see what happens," he added.
