Cassidy remains tight-lipped on future

Damien Cassidy
Damian Cassidy has yet to indicate if he will be continuing as Derry football manager next year.
The Bellaghy clubman still has a year left on his three-year contract, but he is expected to come under pressure to step down after last Saturday's All-Ireland qualifier mauling by Kildare in Celtic Park.
"I am not prepared to talk about that yet," he replied when asked about his future.
"I will not be making my mind up during the next 48 hours. With a situation like this, you need a calm head."
Last Saturday's 11-point defeat capped a disappointing year for Derry which also saw them relinquish their NFL Division 1 status and lose to Armagh in the Ulster SFC preliminary round. They bounced back to beat Carlow and Westmeath in the All-Ireland qualifiers, but without key players Fergal Doherty (injured) and Paddy Bradley (who quit the panel last month), they proved no match for the Lilywhites last weekend.
