Leinster U21HC: Late goals hand Dublin title
July 15, 2010

Dublin's Niall McMorrow and Harry Kehoe of Wexford fight for possession during the Leinster U21 HC final at Parnell Park.
Dublin were crowned Bord Gais Energy Leinster under 21 hurling champions at Parnell Park last night after late goals from Daire Plunkett and David Quinn enabled them to pull away from Wexford.
Dublin 2-15
Wexford 0-15
While the scoreline flattered Richard Stakelum's charges, they came good when it mattered most and can now look forward to an All-Ireland semi-final date with Galway after claiming their fourth provincial title in the grade.
Forced to field without dual star Rory O'Carroll, the home side played second fiddle to Wexford in the first half and were fortunate to be only a point adrift at the interval. The Slaneysiders singled their intentions after just 40 seconds when Emmet Kent slotted over the opening score and with Liam Og McGovern and Shane Tomkins in fine scoring form, they took a 0-8 to 0-7 lead into the interval with points from John Kelly, Shane Stapleton and the impressive Plunkett keeping the Dubs in touch.
Kent pushed Wexford two points clear after 40 minutes, but the remainder of the half belonged to the hosts who never looked back after Plunkett booted to the net with 10 minutes remaining after a barnstorming run.
Further points from Plunkett and Liam Rushe tightened Dublin's grip on proceedings before substitutes Ciaran Brennan, Aodhan McEnerney and David Quinn combined for the latter to hammer home the insurance goal two minutes from time.
