Damien Cassidy during his spell as Derry senior football manager
Derry manager Damian Cassidy is already gearing up for next year - just days after Donegal ended his side's 2009 championship interests.
And the Bellaghy man is planning to introduce a raft of new players to freshen things up.
"The overall feeling is that there must be younger players brought into the squad to allow the team to become a serious championship contender. It's clear that we need to look at younger players to strengthen the mobility of the team and the scoring ability of the team," he said.
Cassidy said he would wait until later in the year before speaking to long-serving stars such as Sean Marty Lockhart, Fergal Doherty and Kevin McCloy about their future intentions, adding that he will be monitoring their performances in the local club championship.
"We have to wait and see. We need to see how they play for their clubs. That will help them understand where they are. We'll talk to the boys in October and November."
