Geezer unveils rookie full back line

January 30, 2009
Kildare football boss Kieran McGeeney has announced his starting fifteen and 24-man panel for the Lilywhites' Division Two trip to Portlaoise on Sunday. Veteran pair Dermot Earley and John Doyle have been selected for their first starts of the season, while centre back Mick Foley adds some know-how to an otherwise inexperienced defence. With Enda Murphy having called time on his illustrious career, Allenwood's Shane McCormack gets his chance between the posts. Converted full forward Willie Heffernan and James Kavanagh are other recognisable names in the Short Grass County team. Eoghan O'Flaherty debuts ar corner forward, but the main talking point is the untried full back line of Declan Brennan, Mark Scanlon and Hugh McGrillen.
