1545849 Donegal V Derry looking like a very tasty opener for the Ulster Championship.

It's great that we have a championship that this year has 5 realistic challengers, other provinces should look north as an example of how it's done especially Leinster with so many counties.

I think you are forgetting that Tyrone and Down will have already opened the Ulster Championship on the 18th May, a game equally as tasty, if not more.

My apologies brend, you are absolutely right.

Only emphasises the point though that the Ulster championship is in a class of it's own when it comes to delivering excitement & quality.

18th May, the day when the mighty red-hand once again
unleash a crushing blow on the so-called aristocrats!
I for one cannot wait! ;)

Why does the Hogan Stand League table have Derry above Tyrone?

The league table on HS now reflects Tyrone's position in third place ahead of Derry on score differential, + 6 for Tyrone as oppossed to + 3 for Derry.

Discussing division 1 prospects here on HS is lagging behind the interesting discussion on Division 2 which largely centres around the eagerly awaited clash this weekend between Donegal and Monaghan.
So with that in mind, in Division 1 will Kerry or Mayo get their first brace of points this weekend, will Derry continue on their winning ways over pointless Westmeath, will Tyrone continues their run of form against Kildare, will the Dubs continue unbeaten against Cork?
Dublin v Cork (Dublin)
Mayo v Kerry (Draw)
Derry v Westmeath (Derry)
Kildare v Tyrone (Tyrone)

Hard to underestimate the importance of the next two games for Kildare. A win in one of them could really provide a springboard for the summer. Get absolutely routed in both and I think we can start telling the fat lady she's on in 5 as far as this year goes.

Dublin v Cork - Dubs to win a tight match and continue to set the pace
Mayo v Kerry - Mayo to make best of home advantage & take their 1st win
Derry v Westmeath - Derry way too strong for Westmeath
Kildare v Tyrone - Tyrone to take an open affair to continue strong start

Big test for us this weekend. We are missing a few through injury (Tom Clancy, Michael Shields, Colm O Neill) but this is an opportunity for younger lads to stake their claim. A lot of positions up for grabs and very few will be guaranteed their place on this team. I hope we do better than last year. Dublin are a few steps ahead and I think they will win. That said, I think we certainly have a chance.

It's a testament to Micko that people keep referring to Newbridge as a good ground for us. We have a shocking record there in more modern times.

I agree with yew_tree's predictions and have gone with the same. Hard to look past both All-Ireland finalists at home. Derry should match their hurlers fine result. Kildare v Tyrone is a hard one to call. Could be a draw.
