Great win for us. I think we were better in most areas of the field and eventually pulled clear at the end. Cathal Vaughan was a big loss before throw in but a might performance from the man that replaced him (Alan Cadogan five points from play) ably asisted by Dan McEoin, Mark Sugrue, Conor Dorman, Kevin Crowley, Jamie Davis ensured that we won. Notable mention for the outstanding Tomas Hickey from Castleisland who was by far Kerry's best performer. Unfortunately from a Kerry perspective, not enough of the others were winning their individual battles and we got there in the end. Micheal Martin pulled off a great save but I think had we been a little more efficient in front of the posts the win might not have been as nervous as it was (and always is against Kerry when we do get to beat them)

Tipperary did their part by trouncing Waterford (in Dungarvan I think) and remain favourites. If we beat Limerick and Tipp beat Clare then we play them in Cork in the final. While they are favourites, I would be quietly confident we can do four-in-a row which would give us an All-Ireland semi v Roscommon (going by what they did tonight in Castlebar). Maybe looking too far ahead. Any win over Kerry is to be savoured so we'll just enjoy that for now.

Hard luck to Kerry.

Super stuff from our lads tonight. Usually it happens to us but tonight in MacHale park we gave Mayo a footballing lesson and it was done with a injury hit side wow just wow!

The_analyser...Indeed well done Roscommon and Smith and Compton didn't look injured at all. Roscommon were bigger, faster and more skillful than our team....a total wipeout. We had no midfield or full backline and the Mayo team overall looked clueless. The only Mayo player who stood out for me was Conor O Se.

Well done Roscommon though who will be hard stop all the way to an All Ireland title.

good win for ye last night. was looking at the odds and cork are favourties for munster, providing we both get over our semis should make for a brilliant final. We have beaten ye 3 times in the last 3 years at minor so travelling to cork should hold no fear, id imagine there wouldnt be more than a kick of a ball in it. On the semi final, our game v clare is set for miltown malbay, near enough as far from tipp as they can stage it, surely on a wednesday night ennis or even sixmilebridge (not that they'd allow football in there!!) would have been the sensible option

]yew_tree, Compton played no part. Smith was injured but the lad made extraordinary sacrifices to be ready for game. Sligo next up away again and if we get over them its Galway away who have 11 of their All Ireland winning team! testing times for a talented but injury hit panel.

The_analyser - Murtagh I should have said (a roscommon fan gladly told me going in the gate he was not fully fit either) - good player he is too.
Roscommon should be improving at senior in next 2-3 years with some good players coming through. We need to buck up or down the road we could be in trouble.

I wish we could say the same about Tipp in 2/3 years but despite all the underage success were having I can't see it, too many lads will be happier to be number 29 and 30 on the hurling panel over starting for footballers

Mayo should'nt worry too much about last night. The team under performed, and many of the players will feature again for Mayo as the talent is there. Roscommon to power through Connacht with ease and have a good shot at winning it out. Its between themselves, Cork and Dublin

Wouldn't be at all surprised if Galway were to beat Roscommon in Connacht, they have serious pedigree in this competition, and have a habit of beating fancied sides.
