All Ireland Club Final, Kilmacud V Glen (Derry)

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Well the All Ireland club final is on this afternoon. Kilmacud Crokes of South Dublin Versus Watty Glen of Derry. Hope it will be good free flowing game. Last week was marred a bit by the 6 red cards in the junior final between Fossa of Kerry and Stewardstown Harps of Tyrone. So hope it will be a good match. Who will win. I think playing in Croke park might suit Kilmacud more, bigger support for starters. Glen just about beat Moycullen of Galway in the semi final. They hung on by a thread really. Anyway like I said, hope football wins today, but finals are usually tight affairs.

Watching the hurling final,I wondering what has happened the surface..looks like it got ploughed..not helping the players in either code..looked bad last week, worse today..

That has to be one of the worst decisions ever seen on a football pitch. Crokes player blatantly fouls his opposing player and the referee gives Crokes a free. Crazy.

Shane Walsh has just scored a penalty. So teams are now leveling up. Will Kilmacud pull away in the second half. Conor Glass not playing well.

Was that the one for the Glen man charging with the ball?

Glen centre back came off the worst but he was doing the fouling. Solid defender. But I didn't like that none of the Kilmacud players stopped to see that he was OK after he clearly took a bang to the head.

Eh? He was clearly charging

The opposing player should stood his ground.

Congrats Crokes, deserved, long time in the making and delighted for some of the stalwarts.

First national Senior title of the year falls Dublins way, hopefully a sign of things to come.

Glen had more than enough chances to win that, bt of inexperience showed. Crokes needed the blow-in and the dodgy penalty to fall over the line.

Great final, two even teams and Glen had their chances. In the end bringing Walsh in was the difference to last years final and got Kilmacud over the line, shrewd move that ultimately won Kilmacud the All Ireland. Glen were unlucky they got Kilmacud a year later than Kilcoo but I'm sure they'll go again.

I did want Glen to win but Well done Crokes. They were the better team. A bit of inexperience probably cost glen.

Delighted for Shane that he'd a good game and buried the penalty. Happy for Ferris too after last year. He saved them at the end

Very good game of football.

Glen will be kicking themselves. They had a serious chance today and they might never get another opportunity like that.

Still they can hold their heads high.

Congratulations to crokes. They had that bit of experience that got them over the line.

Refreshing to see a ref getting a charging offence right, defender held his ground, kept his hands down and the Glen player ran straight into him, well done Ref

Congrats to Kilmacud and our own Shane Walsh, the bit of extra class this year got them over the line..

This delighted for Shane stuff has to stop, we are supposed to be an amateur organisation where club loyalty is important. The thing stinks.

Glen player had his two elbow's up when contact was made, Crokes player just stood his ground. You need to let go this everyone against Ulster crap. Glen missed to much and some bad short passing was the death of them.

A great final. Lots of good skill and scores. Narrow margins, Glen had chance to score goal but missed the ball. Good save from Ferris at the end too. Well done Kilmacud.

Lot of tweets about the fact that Kilmacud had 16 players on the pitch for the final 65. If so they are in trouble. I don't know why they made so many subs. What is the ruling on this?
